This image shows a posterior view of a portion of the human skeleton containing the pectoral girdle, which functions to attach the upper limbs to the body and serves as a point of origin for many muscles that move the upper limb (humerus), neck and trunk.  The pectoral girdle is composed of the clavicle (collar bone) and scapula (shoulder blade).  Axial skeletal elements shown on the image include the ribs, cervical and thoracic vertebrae.
