This slide shows a cross section of the spinal cord with one of the two dorsal root ganglia (groups of nerve cell bodies located outside of the central nervous system).  These ganglia contain the nerve cell bodies of unipolar neurons that function to convey afferent information from sensory receptors in the periphery to the central nervous system for processing.
