This model shows a greatly  enlarged multipolar neuron,  the most common type of neuron found in humans.  Note that the cell body (which contains the nucleus and conspicuous nucleolus) has numerous cytoplasmic extensions called processes.  In multipolar neurons, these processes consist  of  dendrites that conduct  electrical signals (EPSPs and IPSPs)  toward the cell body and a single axon that conducts action potentials away from the cell body.
