This slide shows a section of tendon, which is comprised of dense regular connective tissue.  This type of connective tissue is made up of regularly arranged bundles of closely packed collagen running in the same direction.  This results in a flexible tissue with great resistance to pulling forces.  Crowded between the collagen fibers are rows of fibroblasts that secrete them as well as a small amount of ground substance.   With its enormous tensile strength, dense regular connective tissue forms cord like tendons, which join muscles to bones, sheet like aponeuroses, which attach muscles to muscles or muscles to bones, and ligaments, which bind bones together at joints.
