INTRODUCTION
What comes to mind when you hear about a predaceous diving beetle? Do you think of a brown or black 1-2 inch beetle with a yellow underside that aggressively attacks just about anything that moves in its habitat? Well you should. The predaceous diving beetle, or Dytiscus dauricus, dominate just about any pond, stream, side water or marsh they live in. With their hard outer shelled bodies, bladelike pincers used for swimming, and jaws that are much stronger than the rest of their body for catching prey- they deserve the title of predaceous. They aren't just limited to the water either. At night they often fly to other wetlands using the reflection of the moonlight to guide them.
