Just Keep Swimming - with Ophiopsila riisei!

Ophiopsila riisei is a bioluminescent brittle star. This site is dedicated to exploring the life of this brittle star. Most people only know of the general starfish and have never heard of the diverse group of brittle stars. This species is one of many that glow in the dark! (They don’t glow unless they’re provoked!)

We are students at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. This is our webpage for our Organismal Biology course on bioluminescent organisms. To look at other organism webpages by UWL students please look at MultipleOrganisms.net! If you have any questions feel free to visit our contact page!

Start exploring with the classification of this brittle star!
