| Chlamydomonas is a single celled green algae containing a cup shaped chloroplast, an eyespot, and two flagella located at its apex. The individual cells are haploid and about 10 micrometers in length. Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is sometimes referred to as the green yeast because it is one of the most widely researched algal species in the world. This site is dedicated to Chlamy and gives some background information about the cell's characteristics and facts about its lifestyle.
