Text Box: Did you know that the Great White Shark is actually rated as ‘Vulnerable’ on the IUCN Red List of animals that risk extinction? The main reasons for this is we are using sharks for things like human consumption, leather from their skin, oil from their liver, the carcass for fishmeal and the fins for shark-fin soup. Also, since the prices of a shark’s jaws and teeth are sky rocketing, the urge for fishermen to pursue sharks has greatly increased (Martins, 2008). In my opinion, the Great White Shark and other sharks should be more protected from human interference than they currently are.
Text Box: I chose to create a web page on this particular organism because it has fascinated me since I was in grade school. One thing that I have always wanted to do is to go shark diving (in a shark cage of course!), because I think being in close proximity with these enormous sea creatures would just be an intense and exciting experience. Another reason why I chose to create a web page on the Great White Shark is because I always like to watch the television shows when people are shark diving, feeding sharks, or just talking about sharks in general. This way, next time I watch any of those types of shows that I like, I will be more knowledgeable about the shark, and can make my own conclusions!
I think people would be very interested when learning about the Great White Shark because it is a very remarkable creature that is fun to research. There are a lot of cool things that we know about the Great White, but there is also much more to be learned, and I think the mystery of what else is out there sparks a lot of attention. The Great White is an amazing species in its own, and I think everyone should take some time to learn about it!
