Remember when your parents told you to always check your body for ticks after a long day of playing out in the forest? I sure do, but if you don't, you need to go outside one day and just go experience what the forest has to offer. However, for the rest of us, your parents were correct ticks can carry some very dangerous bacteria.  One of those bacteria is Rickettsia rickettsii which causes
Rocky Mountain spotted fever.  But don't be fooled, Rocky Mountain spotted fever can happen in many states in the US. However, if you live in Wisconsin like me, we are safe for now,
nonetheless we have to worry about Lyme's disease carried by Deer ticks.

Note: Remember to check your animals for ticks because they are able to fall off of your animals and crawl onto you and in doing so can infect you with the bacteria.
