Sarracenia rubra is a pitcher plant from the genus Sarracenia. The top of the pitcher lid is a distinct red color and the plant is identifiable by the green color with veins located along the plants.

Sarracenia rubra flowers during Spring, from April until June. The flowers are identifiable by their red/maroon coloring. The flowers radiate a strong sweet scent which, along with the botanist Robert Sweet, helped give rise to the common name, "Sweet Pitcher Plant".
