The Spectal Bat (Vampyrum Spectrum) is the largest species of bats found in Northern and Southern America. They can weight anywhere from .4 - 1 pound and have been known to have a wingspan of over 3 feet from wingtip to wingtip. They have large rounded ears as well as a distinctive "noseleaf" from which it's family name is generated. It can also be separated from other families of bats by its total lack of a tail, which is unusual among bat species.
