Brevibacterium linens

This website was created as a class project for my Organismal Biology course. For the course, we were to pick an organism related to food, research it, and then produce an informative website with the information found. I chose an organism that not many people were familiar with to maximize both their knowledge and my own.
The organism found on this website is Brevibacterium linens. The common name for this organism is the Lactic Acid Bacteria. Brevibacterium linens is a Gram-positive, rod shaped Bacteria. This organism is a bacteria that is primarily used to help ripen cheeses such as, Limburger. top of ripening cheeses, it is also the bacteria that makes your feet smell. It actually does this by eating your dead skin cells on your feet. After ingesting this material, the bacteria then produce compounds made up of sulfur and ammonia, which causes the odor.
I know that my classmates and I have worked long all semester to create these websites. If you could please take the time out of your day to look at a few of the other websites that were created by my website, it would be greatly appreciated.
