Adaptation
As you will see on the Nutrition page, the structure and pigmentation of Microcystis allows it to strive in its environment. The cell membrane of the cell itself allows it to create its own food and it's small circular size allows for the diffusion of gases, to an extent. These cyanobacteria do not possess flagella or any similar accessories. However, the circular structure allows multiple bacteria to stick together and float around together in mats.
