The genus Conocybe the largest genus of the Bolbitiaceae family containing just under 150 species total. One particular species of Conocybe contains the cyclic peptide toxin, amatoxin. This toxin is deadly to humans and is the same toxin found in the Death cap, and Destroying angel mushrooms (6).  Conocybe species prefer fertile soils, and the filaris species specifically prefer to grow on moist wood or wood chips. Conocybe filaris can also be found in grassy yards where they can be mistaken for other mushrooms.
