This site is dedicated to the species Planorbella campanulata (Also known as Helisoma campanulata).  Planorbella campanulata is also known as Bellmouth Rams-Horn (Encyclopedia of Life 2011). The latin prefix of Plano- stands for flat, -Bella stands for beautiful, campan- stands for bell and -latus stands for wide (Cawley 2011).  It may sound funny, but the greek meaning of Planorbella campanulata is the flat beautiful bell wide or beautiful flat wide bell. This site has been made to inform the general public about the amazing freshwater snail Planorbella campanulata.
