D. hippocrepris is a rare snail that is only found in a very small area in Texas. The name Daedalochila hippocrepis has a distinct meaning behind it. Daedalochila is derived from Latin roots meaning intricate lip (pers.comm.), and hippocrepis meaning horseshoe (State College of Florida, 2012).
