This image shows the two bones of the leg, which are the tibia (indicated by red  arrows) and the fibula. The tibia possesses a lateral and medial condyle which articulate with the condyles of the femur.  On the anterior surface of the tibia, inferior to the condyles is the large, prominent tibial tuberosity.  This tuberosity is the attachment point for many of the extensor muscles of the thigh.  The anterior surface of the shaft forms a ridge called the anterior crest. This is the structure that gets hit whenever you bang your shin against something.  The long shaft of the tibia ends distally in the medial malleolus.
