It's Getting Hot in Here!

Welcome to the hottest biology website you will see in your entire life!  The ant that you see to your left is Cataglyphis bombycina, also known as the Saharan Silver Desert Ant (Myers 1995).  This ant can withstand heat of up to 129.9 degrees Fahrenheit (Marsh, Wehner, and Wehner 1992), but it is noted that it resides in the central part of the Saharan Desert (Lenoir et al. 2010), where the temperature reaches a scorching high of 140 degrees Fahrenheit at midday (Holden 1995).  So if you can't stand the heat, you better get out of the Sahara!  If you are interested in seeing other organism websites also made by UW-La Crosse students, feel free to visit multipleorganisms.net.
