Teamwork Wins!
Welcome to our website! For our UW- La Crosse BIO 203 project, we chose a eusocial organism not found in our backyards. You can find them in parts of North America and South America. They are most commonly known as leafcutter ants. Atta cephalotes, even though they are small organisms, play an important role in the ecological system and also the microclimate around them! They use teamwork to accomplish goals and make big impacts for their colony. With the general idea that they use the leaves they cut for their own source of food, we dig deep to find out the real answers. Their mutualistic relationship with fungus and well conditioned nests makes them an interesting organism to study.
