  • During mating season the males become so preoccupied with maintaining their harem and fending off other males that they forgot eat. This leads to an 80-90% mortality rate for males each year

  • In 1992 the Saiga was represented on a stamp in Kazahstan

 

  •  Male Saiga have somewhat translucent amber colored horns that are valued in China for medicinal purposes

  • Saiga tatarica travel in groups of 30-40 normally, but during migration periods they travel in groups closer to numbers in the thousands
