Quetzalcoatlus northropi- BIO203
Habitat
Quetzalcoatlus northropi remains have been mostly found in mainland Texas in places such as Big Bend National Park in the Southwestern part of Texas (Kellner and Langston, 1996). Figure 1. Big Bend National Park Although Q. northropi have only been found in non-marine locations does not mean that they did not live in marine habitats but could be just because those where the only places where the remains could be preserved (Brower and Veinus, 1981). Based on these accounts we can infer that Q. northropi resided in marine and non-marine locations in North and Central America around 65 million years ago during the late Cretaceous period. If Q. northropi did feed by skimming the water to eat fish or by hunting in the shallows it would have to live near some sort of large water source such as an ocean or a freshwater lake.
