Habitat

Habitat
Asterias rubens prefers cooler, coastal waters with bedrock, gravel, or coarse sand. It lives in both the deep depths of these waters and the shallow shores. This species can be seen in greater abundance with large mussel or barnacle populations.

Geography
Asterias rubens on a rocky sea floor Asterias rubens is found in great abundance on all the British and Irish coasts where beds of mussels and barnacles can be found. They can be located anywhere in north-east Atlantic waters and can occasionally be found in the Mediterranean. This species in non-migratory and doesn't move very often from its current habitat. It is believed that a combination of food supply, temperature variance, and calm weather may account some of the few migrations of the species throughout the years.
