This organism has become well adept to its environment in a verity of
ways. One primary feature of this mushroom is the chemical
Psilocybin. This chemical is a hallucinogenic Alkaloid that is a
defense mechanism that deters predators. Another important
adaptation is the ability to secrete exoenzymes to decompose hard
organic matter for diffusion across a semi-permeable membrane. Along side with the exoenzymes fungi
increase there surface area to absorb more nutrients.
Blasidiomycota get there food through hyphae. These hyphae
produce exoenzymes to break down the organic matter then uses diffusion
to absorb the nutrients. The hyphae from an intricate web called
a mycelium to increase the surface area and increase food consumption.
The storage of excess food is in the form of glycogen.
