About the Author

My name is Alicia Jaedike and I am currently an undergrad student at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. I am majoring in Pre-Med in Biology with a concentration in biomedical  sciences. I enjoy biology and all of the interesting aspects it has to offer. In my free time I enjoy being outdoors, playing all different kinds of sports, and spending time with my friends and family.

I chose this organism because I am very interested in microbiology and medicine. I also took many years of Spanish, and during that time I learned about Che Guevara, a famous revolutionary who worked with leprosy patients. I watched movies and read books about his journey, and now it seemed to work out well when asked to study and organism in biology. While it took a lot of work, I learned a lot of information and have a lot of respect for the people who are infected with leprosy and those who donate their time to help them.
