Yersinia enterocolitica is a rod shaped, gram negative bacteria that is an important world wide human pathogen that few people have ever heard of. This organism has many different strains that are considered pathogenic to humans. The most common disease associated with Yersinia enterocolitica is Yersiniosis and the most common symptom is heavy bouts of diarrhea.
