The Crown-of-Thorns Starfish
Welcome to my website on Acanthaster planci, or more commonly known as, the Crown-of-Thorns starfish! It is important to understand this oceanic organism because it plays a vital role in the destruction of coral reefs throughout the world. On this website you will learn about various aspects of Acanthaster planci, such as its classification, habitat, adaptation, what makes them so dangerous (venom), their diet, how they reproduce, and what kinds of interactions they have with other organisms.

This site was created for a project during the spring semester of 2013, theme of venomous and poisonous organisms, in BIO 203 and is part of a growing movement on Multiple Organisms where you can learn about a variety of different species made by fellow UW-La Crosse students. I hope you enjoy my website!
