Who created this site? We did!

My name is Abbey Schwaab and I am freshman attending the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. I am from Racine, Wisconsin, which is about 3 and a half hours from the University. I am majoring in biology with emphasis on Pre-Dental. After my four years at UW-La Crosse I plan to attend dental school with hopes to someday become a dentist. I took the class of Organismal Biology mainly because I was required to for my major, but as the semester went on, I started to really enjoy learning about all the amazing and interesting organisms on this plant. This webpage assignment really taught me a lot and I hope readers like you will benefit as well. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email me at: schwaab.abbe@uwlax.edu

My name is Abby Waters and I am a freshman at the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse. I am from a small town called Arcadia, which is located in Western Wisconsin. I am doing a double major in biomedicine and psychology and plan to someday be a pediatric doctor. I took Organismal Biology because it was a required course for my major and ended up really enjoying everything in the class and found it all very interesting. This webpage assignment will hopefully make you more aware of the parasite Onchocerca volvulus and make you want to learn more about it. If you have any concerns or comments about this page, don’t hesitate to email me at: waters.abig@uwlax.edu

How did we create this page?

To create this website we went through training sessions on how to create an actual site, a semester filled with biology lectures and labs, countless hours of research and time spent in the library. Abbey Schwaab researched and completed the topic pages: Life History/Reproduction and Interactions with Other Species and Abby Waters researched and completed the topic pages: Habitat and Geography and Form and Function. Together we both completed the Website Home and Classification page.

                                                                 Why did we do it?

The reason we created this site was because we were students of the class Organismal Biology-203 at the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse. Our professors for this class were Dr. Sandland and Dr. Thompsen. This assignment was given to us in the beginning of the spring semester of 2014. We were required to attend a training session to learn how to do all the work that must be done to create a website. We chose a partner to work with and Dr. Sandland give us a list of parasites to choose from, which is when we chose Onchocerca volvulus. At this point, this parasite was a complete mystery to us. But after doing research throughout the semester, we completed this site on April 25th, 2014, which has taught us more than we could imagine.

We hope you enjoy our page and learn as much as we did about the parasite Onchocerca volvulus!
