The Poem of the Gastrocopta corticaria

By: Kristin Halla

Gastrocopta corticaria is what I am called

The scientists do call me that and never are appalled

Every day I spend my time around black walnut trees

Using my radula for scraping off some food for me

Five and a half convex whorls is seen when the sun shines

Also a shell that’s translucent and marked with faint growth lines
