Geography and Habitat

Geography

Paragnetina media can be found in Canada from Saskatchewan to Quebec, then further south in the United States including Wisconsin, southern Michigan, central Pennsylvania, and southern New England.  In very rare occasions nymphs have even been collected further south into Virginia and North Carolina.

Habitat

Paragnetina media generally live in warmer streams and rivers and are generally absent in colder trout streams.  They can be located by overturning stones in large streams and also in the swifter waters usually four to six inches below the water's surface.  The general water temperatures that suit the Paragnetina media best is between 6.0 degrees Celsius and 20.0 degrees Celsius.  (The American Midland Naturalist 1970)
