Welcome!
This website will provide you with all of the information I have compiled on the Large Caddisflies . The term Caddisfly actually refers to an order of insects. Caddisfly is the common name-Trichoptera is the scientific name. Within this order, there is a family called Phryganeidae, or the Large Caddisflies. Adult members of this group are between one and two centimeters long and are mottled (blotchy) looking with grey and brown markings. The larvae look a lot like caterpillars with yellow head stripes and legs near the head (click here to learn some specifics in determining a Phryganeidae larva). Now that you have a very general description of these critters, take some time to navigate through the pages to learn more!
