Facts
Ginseng has been found to prevent reverse transcriptase from
creating DNA from RNA in HIV. A study was done in Korea where 18
people were given Korean Red ginseng from 1991 to 1997. These
patients over the time period saw a decrease in HIV resistance
to 22% resistant cells. Other individuals who were part of the
study that were not given Ginseng had a 56% resistance. A
protein that has been derived from Ginseng called panaxagin has
shown in vitro the ability to interfere with reverse
transcriptase (7).
