Facts
Because it is hard to study these creatures, there is not much known about the Ganges river dolphin. Locals call the Ganges river dolphin "susu", and is also known as the South Asian river dolphin. There are only four other species of river dolphin that exist today. There were many more that use to exist, but they were poached to extinction, such as the white river dolphin. The Ganges river dolphin is currently the most endangered cetaceaean today. It is estimated that there are only 1,000 left (Swinton & Gomez, 2009).
