Reproduction

Stonefishes are solitary organisms.  Sexual reproduction is achieved by females depositing unfertilized eggs on the ocean floor for males to spray their sperm over.  The fertilized eggs hatch in a few days and most are consumed by other organisms, such as the Great Barracuda, allowing only a fraction to reach adulthood.
