My name is
Alecia Faber and I am currently a sophomore attending the
University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. I am a Biomedical major with
a focus on pre-veterinarian studies. After obtaining my degree
from UW-La Crosse I hope to carry on my education to
graduate
school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
As a project for my Organismal Biology class, this webpage
was created to demonstrate what we had learned and apply this
knowledge to a real organism. The organism that captured my
interest was Oregonia gracilis, the graceful decorator crab. The
way in which it lives out its life and uses its surroundings as
tools for survival grabbed my attention from the beginning.
Delving deeper into my research this organism became only more
interesting to me as I hope it does with you.
When not studying I enjoy spending time with friends and
family but most of all my dog, Tessa. I am the catcher for the
UW-La Crosse softball team and have participated in softball
since I was 10 years old. Also in my free time I enjoy fishing,
running, tanning, watersports, and coaching younger girls in
softball.
My name is Ben Tschoeke and I am also a
sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. I am
majoring in Biomedical Sciences with a focus to go pre-med.
After I complete my undergraduate degree from UW-L, I plan
on attending another university to complete graduate school.
This webpage really showed me the diversity and species
specification throughout the world. The graceful decorator
crab, or Oregonia
gracilis, really sparked my interest when finding out
that it would place other organisms on itself as camoflague.
Outside of school I like to hang out with friends and spend
time at my cottage. Next summer I will hopefully be living
at my cottage, while working at the VA Hospital in Waupaca.
We hope you enjoyed our research as much as we did and we encourage
you to research more into Oregonia gracilis as well as many more
fascinating creatures at
