About me

"Everyone is like a butterfly, they start out ugly and awkward and then morph into beautiful graceful butterflies that everyone loves." - Drew Barrymore

Hi my name is Courtney Kolehouse. I am from Merrill, WI and graduated from Merrill High school in 2012.  Currently, I am second semester freshman at UW-La Crosse and I am majoring in biology with a biomedical concentration. After I graduate in 2016, I plan to continue my education by going on to graduate school to become a Physician's Assistant. I made this webpage for my Organismal Biology class that was taught by Dr. Greg Sandland and Dr. Thomas Volk. In this class we learn about the diversity of the world's organisms and how they interact with one another. For the spring of 2013, the theme for the web pages we were assigned to create was poisonous and venomous organisms. I decided to do my project on the beautiful Battus philenor, commonly known as the Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly. The Battus philenor was the perfect organism for me to do my website on because I have always been interested in butterflies. As a child, I would spend countless hours running around the field in my backyard catching as many types of butterflies as I could.

I am a very active person and when I’m not at school I like to spend as much time as I can outdoors. Some activities that I do include swimming, running, kayaking, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. My favorite thing to do on a summer night is to sit around a campfire with friends and family.

If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me at kolehous.cour@uwlax.edu.

There are also more websites like mine at Multiple Organisms webpage that were created by other students before me.
