My name is Jordan Pendergast and I am a sophomore at UW-La
Crosse. I am majoring in Biomedical Science, with
the goal of becoming a Physician Assistant. I am also a
student-athlete at UW-La Crosse, and play linebacker for the
Eagles. I am from Sussex, Wisconsin and have an older brother,
Chris, and younger sister, Bridget. My family is the m
ost
important part of my life, and I have been blessed to have their
support in everything I do.
For this assignment, we were instructed to choose a venomous
organism to research, and I came across the six-eyed sand spider or
Sicarius hahni. It first attracted me because of the common
name, and I was further intrigued when I began to do research on it. I
have never been much of a lover of spiders, but after seeing the
video of this one burying itself under the sand and killing the
grasshopper that came too close, who wouldn’t be interested?
