The Armed Snaggletooth (Gastrocopta armifera)

Nutrition

Land snails are known for consuming many different types of food. G. armifera is typically thought to be an herbivore, although it can also consume animal flesh as well (Discover, 2011). Many land snail species in the genus Gastrocopta are known to consume other snails. Many land snail species are also known to glean calcium from the empty shells of other land snails, but this seems not to occur in G. armifera. Instead of gleaning calcium from empty shells, G. armifera stays in areas very rich in Calcium, such as limestone deposits.
