Habitat and Geography

In the studies I have found, they all document seeing Mesodon zaletus in moist wooded areas such as the William B. Bankhead National Forest and the southwestern Appalachian Ecoregion area in Northern Alabama, as well as various parts of Tennessee, Wisconsin, Mississippi, West Virginia, Illinois, and Louisiana.  Gathering the info and looking at the map, the species seem to mainly inhabit areas around and east of the Mississippi River.  Living around wet areas make it easier for the snail to find nutritional food.

The snail was observed with 50 other snail species in an Alabama research project, however the Mesodon zaletus was the snail that was least discovered.  The total percent of Mesodon zaletus found was 0.07% with only 1 observation.
