Habitat
-
The Pomatiopsis lapidaria usually likes to live in a wet more moist environment. Usually down close to water although you will get those stranglers that tend to race up the hill or move further away from the water but in general they tend to live in more of a moist environment. Other worms and leeches tend to also live in wetter moist areas.
-
Neighbors of the Snails include the fish who you can most likely find swimming in the river or pond that they are next too!
-
They live mostly in the Eastern and southern states.
-
Snails started out as all living in marine habitats and then eventually evolved to terrestrial and freshwater habitats.
Adaptions
-
The biggest adaption for the snail is their shell. It can be used for protection from bad weather, to retain body moisture and even to protect them from other predators.
-
Torsion is another adaption many shells have used. Torsion is when they twist or turn their shell and end up almost flipping themselves around so that their head and their anus are on the same side anus above the head usually. This can be beneficial but can also cause problems relating to feces contamination.
