Reproduction/Life History
-
The Pomatiopsis lapidaria life cycle is approximately 2.5 years long.
-
There are two breeding seasons between the months of March and October.
-
The eggs are usually laid along the water in a moist environment. The young snails emerge after approximately 2-3 weeks. But if the environment conditions aren't idea and it's too dry out and not enough moisture the young snails will stay within the egg dormant until it rains or somehow there gets to be more moisture outside for the conditions to improve.
-
The Pomatiopsis lapidaria prefer shaded areas so on a nice hot sunny day you can find them hiding under rocks or a shaded leaf, basically any where out of the sun.
-
During the winter they lay dormant under some sort of object or rock.
-
There are more females than their are male snails in the Pomatiopsis lapidaria.
