Habitat & Range

Most often found under decaying logs and litter in forested areas.  It is can also be found under large stones in forests or other moist areas.  This organism co-exists with species from the Phylum Nematoda, Annelida, Platyhelminthes, and Mollusca (Class Gastropoda). This organism is a decomposer in its ecosystem feeding on decomposing plant materials. 

Found east of and along the Mississippi River in the United States.  Ranging from NE Mexico to Manitoba Canada and east from there to the Atlantic ocean.  The farthest north area it has been found at is James Bay, Canada.  The farthest south is in Venezuela. (Johnson, 2009) Map of Strobilops labyrinthicus distribution
