Stagnicola woodruffi is found in the freshwater environment of Lake Michigan, specifically along the coast of Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin (Baker 1928).

Due to the fact that very little information has been gathered regarding Stagnicola woodruffi, its exact habitat is not yet definitely known. However, it is probable that they live on the numerous sandbars which border the shore of Lake Michigan (Baker 1928).
