Stagnicola walkeriana belongs the the
family Lymnaeidae, snails that are typically more herbivorous
than those of other families. S. walkeriana eats
mostly algae that it scrapes from rocks with its radula
(EOL). Some Lymnaeidae float
upside down on surface film and collect microscopic food
(Morton).
