The phylum Mollusca is largely characterized by a soft body which contains two parts; a head-foot and a visceral mass (Hickman et al., 2012). The phylum includes almost 90,000 species including snails, octopuses, squids, clams, and chitons (Hickman et al., 2012). Mollusks can be found in a variety of environment ranging from freshwater and marine environments to terrestrial landscapes (Hickman et al., 2012).
