Millerelix forfeuillianan
Habitat
Millerelix forfeuillianan also known as the Oakwood Liptooth
snail and is often found in Oak-hickory forests (where it gets its
name) of the lower midwest. The snail can be found near decaying
logs on the forest floor, near shrubs or possibly on rocks
(Walsh et al. 2006).
This species prefers a humid climate where their skin may remain
moist (Walsh et al. 2006). This is why the Oak-Hickory
forest is a sufficient environment for Millerelix
forfeuillianan, where about half of the precipitation takes
place during the dormant season (Knowledge 2012). The
temperature ranges from 40 degrees Fahrenheit to 65 degrees
Fahrenheit running north to south (Knowledge 2012).
The habitat of this snail
includes states such as:
Illinois
Missouri
Arkansas
Louisiana
Texas
Oklahoma
The Oak-Hickory forest is roughly 114 million acres across the eastern part of the United States (Knowledge 2012). The kind of soil the forest has developed upon were consequence of glacial material from the last Ice Age. The soil also results from limestone as well as residual sandstone (Knowledge 2012).
