Adaptation

The most conspicuous aspect of sphingid biology is the capacity of the moths to undergo fast, long distance, often migratory flight which is due to the adaptations that these moths have evolved. Appropriately shaped bodies with narrow wings and a fusiform abdomen allow for such long sustained flight (Scoble 1992). From these adapted traits, the moths are able to cover vast distances and inhabit a large area as a habitat.
