Stylommatophora

Order Stylommatophora consists of air-breathing Gastropods that are almost universally terrestrial (Encyclopedia of Life, 2012).  They have a pair tentacles located in the anterior (Encyclopedia of Life, 2012).  On each of the ends of these tentacles, the organism has eyes (Encyclopedia of Life, 2012).  The tentacles can also be drawn down towards the body and into the shell (Encyclopedia of Life, 2012).  A few species have lost their shells and, because they are terrestrial, the mantle of these organisms has developed into an air-breathing lung (Encyclopedia of Life, 2012).
