Marsh Liptooth
(Daedalochila triodontoides)
Habitat
Marsh Liptooth prefers to live in low and humid coastal regions (Burch, 1962). Some of the most common places that Marsh Liptooth can be found is in areas from Louisiana to Missouri to Oklahoma and even in Texas (Burch, 1962). These snails like to live in damp areas, which include under rocks and even fallen wood (Pilsbry, 1940), and they even occupy vegetated moist areas including shrubs, trees, and grasses (Perez & Cordeiro, 2008).
Since snails require lots of moisture in their preferred habitats, they like to dwell in darker lit areas because darker environments allow more moisture in their environment (ORACLE Think Quest Education Foundation, 2003). Therefore, since there is a smaller amount of sunlight during the late evening hours and early morning hours, you would have the best chance at witnessing these little snails in their most active states during these times (ORACLE Think Quest Education Foundation, 2003).
Marsh Liptooth does not live alone in its habitat but interacts with other species in order to survive. Marsh Liptooth shares its environment with various organisms, which include many types of bacteria, fungi, worms, millipedes, centipedes, beetles and other types of insects (Hickman, et al., 2009).
