Interactions

 

Since A. cristatus is a predacious insect it has numerous interactions with a large variety of insects that it consumes, from caterpillars to beetles and bee's. In addition most of the insects the Wheel Bug preys upon are harmful to crops and gardens, the Wheel Bug is considered to be beneficial.

The Wheel Bug secretes a strong enzyme that destroys the insides and internal organs of bugs, so the bite to an unwary or overly curious human causes a very painful sting that is considered to be more potent than a bee sting.
