Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus)
Looking to expand your knowledge of the sun bear? You're in the right place!
The sun bear, also commonly known as the Malayan sun bear or the California sun bear, is the most endangered of the the 8 bear species. Not only is the sun bear one of the most vulnerable bear species, but it's also the least researched. Living in primarily in Southeast Asia, the sun bear faces several threats of extinction. Our hopes for this website is to inform the public on the sun bear's reproduction patterns, behavior traits, nutritional needs, and adaptation requirements, as well as what is effecting the number of sun bear's to decrease while their endangerment increases.
This website is part of a larger project. To find more species please visit MultipleOrganisms.net
"Sun bear is a forgotten bear species. They are the least known bear and one of the least known large mammals in Southeast Asia until recently. I hope this blog can enlighten readers and open up discussions on how we could help this unfortunate but yet magnificent animal that we call “sun bear"."
